When Kristen and Nick started planning their wedding, they envisioned a classic, glamorous winter celebration in the heart of Philadelphia. As a Philadelphia wedding photographer, I was thrilled to capture Kristen and Nick’s elegant Ballroom at The Ben wedding, paired perfectly with their beautiful ceremony at St. John the Evangelist. These venues are absolute gems and perfectly complement Kristen and Nick’s vision for a romantic February wedding in Philly.
A Winter Wedding Dream in Philadelphia
Kristen and Nick’s Ballroom at The Ben wedding day was an unforgettable celebration. The atmosphere was already electric since it was the night before the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory, and the city was buzzing with excitement. Despite a snowy forecast, just a few light flurries danced through the air, enough to add a touch of winter magic without complicating travel.
The day began with Kristen and her bridal party getting ready together at the hotel. The girls wore matching pajamas, and Kristen set the celebratory mood by popping a bottle of champagne. They enjoyed mimosas, and excitement filled the room as they got into their dresses. Once Kristen slipped into her gown, she shared a special first look with her dad.

A Joyful Ceremony at St. John the Evangelist
The wedding party traveled by trolley to St. John the Evangelist Church. Nick smiled as Kristen made her way down the aisle, his expression growing warmer with every step. Their Catholic ceremony was intimate and meaningful, emphasizing their faith and the importance of family and friends.

Philadelphia Wedding Photos in Winter
After the ceremony, we headed out for portraits at the Merchants’ Exchange Building. With the gorgeous architecture, from its majestic columns to grand staircases, made for some truly amazing photos. Kristen wrapped herself in a white fur stole, adding a cozy, elegant touch to their winter portraits. One of my favorite moments was capturing the two of them on Broad Street with City Hall in the background. You can’t get married in downtown Philly without a classic City Hall shot! We wrapped up their portraits and then headed to their Ballroom at The Ben wedding reception.

A Glamorous Ballroom at The Ben Wedding Reception
The Ballroom at The Ben exudes the grandeur of European architecture with its affluent décor and timeless elegance. The ornate chandeliers, grand staircase, and elegant balconies create the perfect ambiance for a glamorous winter Ballroom at The Ben wedding. Kristen and Nick made their grand entrance by descending the sweeping staircase and entering their first dance.
One of the highlights was when they participated in a traditional German dance together. The energy in the room was unmatched, especially when the band brought Kristen and Nick up on stage later in the night! Their guests danced the night away under the glittering chandeliers, soaking in every moment of the celebration.

Unique Touches and Unforgettable Moments
The reception featured personal touches, from meaningful speeches to the cake-cutting, which Kristen and Nick genuinely enjoyed. As the night went on, it was clear that the joy of their wedding day, combined with the city’s anticipation of the Super Bowl, created a truly unique atmosphere. One of my favorite parts of photographing this Ballroom at The Ben wedding was capturing the venue’s timeless beauty. As a Philadelphia wedding photographer, I love how the balcony overlooks the ballroom floor, providing different perspectives throughout the night.
Kristen and Nick’s story is one of friendship blossoming into love. They built their journey to the altar on a foundation of genuine connection and unwavering support, from studying together at Penn State to reconnecting at a football game. You could feel that foundation throughout the day, whether during their sweet ceremony or while dancing the night away.
