Ireland Travel Photography // Romantic Anniversary Trip

FILED IN: Travel

If you are thinking about planning an anniversary trip or honeymoon, a romantic road trip in Ireland should definitely be on your radar.  Claude and I squeezed in an eight day trip to Ireland this past autumn which started out in Dublin. We met up with one of our couples in Howth, just north of Dublin, for a super cool cliff walk engagement shoot which you can see here.  After a brief weekend in Dublin, we trained it East to Galway.  This was our home base to sightsee around the Wild Atlantic Way, which requires a lot of driving. Our first expedition took us to Connemara National Park, as we were highly motivated to see lots of sheep.

After making Claude pull over, I chased down the sheep like a crazy person and herded them into the street to get this shot: Ireland Travel PhotographyAfter the sheep herding experience, we popped into Kylemore Abbey for a few snaps. We never went inside for a tour, but the lunch at the visitor center was AMAZING and they had an amazing kids area to keep Bear occupied.

We stayed at the most amazing hotel nearby called Gregan’s Castle. I couldn’t have imagined a better place for Bear to run around in a bucolic wonderland. He loved the animals, the walking trails and the resident cats that roamed the hotel.  We especially loved the cozy bar and the fact that they had babysitting.

After an amazing evening at Gregan’s, we headed toward Limerick, Ireland to a brand new resort called Adare Manor.  This is without a doubt the best hotel we have ever stayed at.  I cannot recommend this place enough, whether you are traveling with your significant other or whole family.  After undergoing a change in ownership and a major renovation this hotel redefines luxury. The grounds and castle were impeccable and the unpretentious staff made you feel at home.  If this hotel wasn’t cool enough to look at, they also have an underground swanky bar with some outrageously delicious original drinks.

Adare Manor has tons of unique activities available for guests.  The experience with their Falconer was surreal. Bear still talks about the owl that he held on his hand!Ireland Travel Photography Ireland Travel Photography Ireland Travel Photography

Another amazing thing about Adare is their nanny service, which we utilized so that we could enjoy an afternoon of clay pigeon shooting.  Apparently shooting weddings helps your tracking skills, as we were both pretty darn good.

Ireland is a fantastic place for a romantic getaway or honeymoon (even if you have a toddler in tow!) From the gorgeous landscapes, great food and endless activities, we did not want to leave! There are a million different ways to explore Ireland, but hopefully our pictures were inspirational for your own adventure. Slainte!
